Attack on TV journalist by Radha Swami Dera men – SP (HQ) inspected the spot

Beas, Punjab (July 30, 2012): On the evening of July 28, 2012 a TV journalist was attacked by dera radha swami (Beas) men while he was talking to resident of Village Jodhan. On the evening of July 29, 2012 Manmohan Singh, SP (HQ) visited the spot where the incident had taken place and recovered camera-mic with Sangat TV logo and some personal belongings of Baljeet Singh that were left left on the day of incident when dera mob comprising around more than two hundred armed men attacked the reporter.
Baljeet Singh is reporter with Sangat TV (UK) and was gathering information for a fortnightly show – “Qaumi Masle”.
Amritsar SSP (Rural) Preetpal Singh said that the enquiry of the case has been marked to SP (HQ) Manmohan Singh who would be submitting his report by Monday or Tuesday.
At the time of visit to the spot SP (HQ) was accompanied by Baljeet Singh and other journalists. Local media has taken up this issue very seriously. Journalists belonging to Rayya and other neighbouring towns held a press conference at Press club Chandigarh yesterday to condemn the attack. They are demanding strict action against culprits.
