SGPC suspends Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, VC of SGGS world University

Amritsar, Punjab (July 31, 2012): As per media reports the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Commtitee (SGPC) has suspended Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, vice chancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, on charges of irregularities on Tuesday. Certain media sections have quoted SGPC General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur saying that "J. S. Ahluwalia is suspended on charge of committing various irregularities and charge-sheet would be served to him soon ".

Bus carrying school children collided with rail near Rayya – deaths feared

Rayya, Punjab (July 30, 2012): Ominous news reports have been received from Rayya, Punjab where a school bus is reported to have collided with a rail. Initial reports available with Sikh Siyasat suggest that there were approximately 20-25 school children in the school bus and deaths are feared. There is no confirmation as regards death toll as incident has taken place a short while ago.

Baljeet Singh, reporter of Sangat TV was at village Jodhan to cover the destruction of land of village residents. He was talking to village resident when a mob of dera followers assaulted them.

Chandigarh (July 27, 2012): The hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking removal of Sumedh Singh Saini as DGP of Punjab continues in Punjab and Haryana High Court. This petition is moved by NGO named Voices for Freedom (VFF). In recent hearing in the court the VFF counsel countered the allegations levelled by the state government against VFF and told the court that CBI had registered a case of murder and abduction against Sumedh Saini.

Chandigarh (July 28, 2012): As per media reports the Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) chief, Gurmeet Ram Raheem was arrayed as a respondent in a petition filed by former Dera follower alleging castration of 400 sadhus on the directions of Raheem. The Dera Chief has been issued notices by the Punjab and Haryana High Court asking him to respond by October 10.

Chandigarh (July 27, 2012): A day after Justice Garg’s visit to village Hondh-Chillar, All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) demanded a three member inquiry commission comprising of High Court Justices to thoroughly investigate the November 1984 genocidal attacks on the Sikh population throughout the Sate of Haryana.
