Bathinda (November 20, 2009): Members of the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC), Sant Samaj and other Sikh organisations, led by KAC convener Bhai Mohkam Singh, today held a dharna outside the mini secretariat here, seeking release of Baba Hardip Singh Mehraj (Leader of Dharam Prachar Committee of Panch Pardhnai Dal), Ranjit Singh, Ghudar Singh Mehraj and withdrawal of the case registered against them. Their other demands included the imposition of ban on “naam charcha” of the Dera in the state, and presentation of challan against the Dera head in a court.

It is very unfortunate that in the last one month, the pro-Indira print media/Congress party supporters have dug up the wounds of the Sikh community again by portraying her as Godess/”Devi” and remembering her as the courageous woman, iron lady, mother India, iconic leader, visionary leader, charismatic leader, martyr, unifier of the country and the list goes on.

Ludhiana/US (November 19, 2009): It is learnt from a news-letter sent by Sikhs for Justice via email to SikhSiyasat Network that Amnesty International USA on November 18, 2009 has urged the US President Mr. Barack Obama to candidly address human rights concerns in India during your upcoming meeting with the Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh and to press him to make substantive improvements.

Amritsar (November 18, 2009): Sri Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs, on Tuesday pronounced “Tankhah” on November 17, 2009 to Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC) leader Jagdish Singh Jhinda who was earlier declared a ‘Tankhayia alongwith his associates.

Amritsar (November 18, 2009): Sikh Organizations made a representation to Sri Akal Takhat sahib on November 17, 2009 and asked the Jathedars to chalk out some concrete and effective action plan to secure implementation of Akal Takht Edict regarding Dera sauda sirsa but no such plan is issued this time too.

Patiala (November 11, 2009): The Sikh Students Federation today conducted a signature campaign to seek clemency for Prof Devinderpal Singh Bhullar and five other cases of death penalty. Bhullar has been in Tihar Jail, Delhi, for the past 14 years and his petition before the President of India, under Article 72 of the Constitution, has been under consideration for the past seven years.
