Edict against Dera Sauda Sirsa – Sikh bodies urge Akal Takhat to ensure implementation

Various Sikh religious, political and social organizations have requested Jathedar Akal Takht Gurbachan Singh to ensure that The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) implement edict against Sirsa based Dera Sauda Sirsa.

SYA staged demonstrations in front of Indian Consulates (Special Report)

Sikh Youth of America has staged demonstrations in front of Indian Consulates situated at New York, Washington DC, Huston, Chicago, San Francisco to protest against arrest of Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, chairman of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) and other Sikh leaders. SFA claimed these arrests are motivated by ulterior political motives and Indian State is placing hindrances in the way of peaceful and democratic Sikh Struggle.

As per information provided by Advocate Ajit Singh Bhangu and Advocate Lakhwinder Singh Kaliraun, Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu, Prof. Gurbir Singh and Gurdeep Singh Raju are sent to judicial custody till 7 October 2009.

In a press statement issued by the United Sikhs it is claimed that Sikhs moved one step further in their continuous struggle to practice their religion freely. Sukhmeet Kaur, a Sikh student in the 8th grade, had been ordered by school authorities to remove her Kirpan during school hours or not come to school at all.

Bhai Bittu’s custody extended till 8 October

Judicial custody of Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu, Chairman of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Panch Pardhani has been extended till 8th October, 2009 and he is sent back to Amritsar Jail. Earlier today the police brought Bhai Bittu from Amritsar Jail and produced before Magistrate at Ludhiana, who extended the custody for fourteen more days. In a strange move the Punjab Police did not bother to produce Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Palwinder Singh Chattrana and Gurdeep Singh Raju before the Magistrate who are also framed by the Police along with Bhai Bittu under ULA(P) Act 1967.

Sikh for Justice Protests Kamal Nath’s Visit to US

Sikhs for Justice condemns the visit of India’s Union Minister for Road and Transport, presently in United States to meet with World Bank officials and other financiers in an effort to attract investors. In a statement sent to SikhSiyasat Network attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor for Sikhs for Justice, said that Minister Kamal Nath was indicted by a high ranking investigative commission on allegations that he led a mob that killed Sikhs during a November 1984 massacre that followed the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Letter of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana

In a letter addressed to Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who is sentenced to Death in Beant Singh assassination case, has refused to appeal against capital sentence awarded to him by the Sessions Court. Bhai Rajoana has clarified that he stands by what he and Shaheed Dilawar Singh did and he do not want to appeal against the decision of Sessions court or take services of any advocate.
